| My
name is Toni Trott and I have been involved in sewing and various
handicrafts for over 40 years starting with knitting and sewing outfits
for my dolls when I was in primary school. I then progressed to sewing,
knitting and crocheting clothes for myself and my mother. Then came my
experimentation with macramé and leatherwork in my "hippy" years. I worked
for several years in advertising as a "paste-up artist" before the days of
computers and desktop publishing. This was followed by a period of painting and
decorating ceramics in a Brisbane manufacturing outlet I then worked as a bookkeeper however I never gave up my love of
handcrafts. Back in the 1980's a
friend of mine used to make her own quilts which I greatly admired but
there was no way I was going to cut hundreds of little hexagons out with a
pair of scissors then hand sew them together. As much as I liked the look
of her quilts, patchwork was not for me. Or so I thought.
Then along came the rotary cutter.
I was re-introduced to patchwork in 2005
and this time I was hooked. My next challenge was to try and quilt these
king sized patchwork creations on a domestic sewing machine.
I found that it was NOT the easiest thing to do. Hand quilting was not for
me either so within a few months I purchased an APQS Millennium
hand-guided longarm quilting system. Now I can help YOU finish YOUR quilt
tops.
